Locum Story: How Liane Built an Imaging Career with Em-Staff

Liane Curley's career journey took a transformative turn when she joined Em-Staff to support the company’s locum imaging needs. Her story is more than just professional growth in the field of medical imaging – it's about her passion, adaptability, and the impact she makes every day. With Em-Staff, Liane found a place where her skills are valued, and her need for balance and flexibility is understood and respected. This is her story.

The Early Days: Embracing New Opportunities

In 2019, fresh from obtaining her licensure in medical imaging and with a background rich in varied experiences, Liane was ready to take on any imaging challenge sent her way. When the opportunity arose to learn a new scanner in North Conway, she didn't hesitate, despite the need to juggle this with her weekend job. This early decision to embrace flexibility and growth epitomizes Liane's approach to her imaging career.

By February 2022, Liane was picking up enough shifts to fully transition to working with Em-Staff as a full-time contractor. This change marked a significant shift in her career, offering her not just more opportunities for professional growth but also a much-needed balance between her personal and professional life. As a mother of two young children, this balance was invaluable.

Rising to Leadership: Becoming the Imaging Lead

Despite being relatively new in her career, Liane’s exceptional work ethic and commitment to patient care didn’t go unnoticed. In November of that same year, Joel and Matt recognized her potential and appointed her as the imaging lead. In this role, Liane not only supports staffing in Vermont but also works regularly at Littleton Valley and Memorial, ensuring that these rural critical access hospitals receive the support they need.

A Day in the Life of an Em-Staff Imaging Lead

Liane’s typical day is a testament to the diversity and flexibility that Em-Staff offers. Her assignments take her through scenic routes of New Hampshire’s mountain towns, bringing a new set of experiences and learning opportunities with every health system she supports within the region.

As an Imaging Lead, each day begins with purpose and preparation. After her scenic commute, Liane arrives at the healthcare facility where she's scheduled for the day. Her mornings usually start with a brief team meeting, where she collaborates with radiologists, technologists, and support staff, discussing the day's appointments and any special cases. This is followed by a thorough check of imaging equipment, ensuring everything is in optimal condition for patient care.

Throughout the day, Liane balances her time between performing imaging procedures, overseeing her team, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care are maintained. She often finds herself adapting to different work environments, a challenge she embraces with enthusiasm. Her role also involves mentoring less experienced staff, a part of her job that she finds particularly rewarding.

Recognizing the Patient Beyond the Imaging Need

Liane’s work goes beyond fulfilling technical roles. She is passionate about ensuring that each patient receives the best possible care. Her experience as a cancer patient gives her unique empathy and insight, driving her to make each patient's experience as positive as possible. This view is brought to her work each and every day with Em-Staff.

The Em-Staff Difference: A Model That Cares

What sets Em-Staff apart, in Liane's experience, is its commitment to its staff and patients. Unlike traditional staffing models, Em-Staff focuses on the well-being of its employees, offering them the flexibility to manage their schedules and ensuring they are not overworked. This approach benefits the staff and translates into better patient care.

Liane’s journey with Em-Staff is a story of professional growth, personal balance, and making a real difference in the lives of patients. It reflects Em-Staff’s commitment to providing a working environment where professionals can thrive while maintaining the necessary flexibility. Liane’s story is an inspiration, showing that with the right opportunities and support, healthcare professionals can have a rewarding career that also allows them to enjoy life outside of work.
